Perceiving The Social Edge!! "Hey, I'm busy. Can we catch up a little later??" – If a small smile appears on your face on reading this line, it conveys your agreement on this so often heard/spoken and a very popular line of our generation. With the ever-increasing pace of our lives, we are seldom left with a chance to sit back and "call up" our well-wishers. Socializing has been an integral part of human fraternity for it not only allows one to mingle around with like-minded people, but also gives us the opportunity to exchange ideas with different kind of people spanning over seven continents…The significance of socializing remains the same, Then and even Now. The only change is in the media used to communicate. Today, majority of us would agree that "writing" a letter to a friend or a dear one is just limited to those Grammar classes at school! It is indeed a "small world", because NOW, all you need to simply do is to "post" or "tweet" on a friends' page to keep yourself updated on each other's lives and stay connected. Yes, we are talking about the Social Networking sites and the power it has to keep our "busy" lives on a halt for a couple of hours daily so that we can conveniently keep in touch with all around. Social Networking has found its importance in diverse fields. Business contacts, relationships, marketing, friends, acquaintances, et al, everyone has to use this effective medium to access a larger number of people, spread around the globe. Realizing the impact social networking has made on our lives, we, the students of the PICT IEEE Student Branch, have opted for this scenario as the theme of our annual technical symposium, CREDENZ'11 and we aim to take a huge leap by reflecting this theme in every moment of our technical extravaganza over three days of September.
